Job Description:

The Museum’s Research & Collections Division is seeking a Business Support Specialist to join their team, in support of three of our departments. This position works collaboratively with a dedicated team of scientists, lab, and collections staff, helping them meet project, department, division, and Museum goals. This position also serves as the liaison between the Research & Collections Division, the rest of the Museum, and the public. This is a perfect opportunity for a candidate who is approachable, service-minded, and is able to demonstrate flexibility and good judgement in determining the best way to meet the needs of a diverse team. This position will allow you to unleash your inner geek and learn something new every day!


Essential Duties:

  • Acts as public interface for the departments, provides routine information, and refers problems to the appropriate person for resolution.

  • Provides administrative support for department projects and staff (varies from routine tasks to large projects).

  • Orders supplies for very active lab and field programs.

  • Supports the preparation of department plans, budgets and reports, and supports the delivery of planned goals.

  • Collaborates with cost center managers to support multiple budgets through tracking expenses, reconciling monthly financial statements, and facilitating budget forecasts.


Requirements:  ?

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • 3 years’ experience providing administrative support to a large department or equivalent work experience required.

  • 3 years’ experience budget tracking and financial coordination required.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends required.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required.
