Essential Functions and Objectives:
The Career Exploration Coordinator will assist the CareerSpark program in serving more students each year. This will involve working with the CareerConnect partnerships team to identify companies to host students, collaborating with school-based program champions to coordinate all career exploration experiences for their assigned school(s), and manage event logistics to ensure the highest quality of program execution. Under the leadership of the Work-Based Learning Director and CareerSpark Supervisor, the Career Exploration Coordinator will deliver high quality career exploration experience to students, excellent customer service to business partners and other program supporters. Being effective at this job requires engaging with at least 30 company partners, more than 9 middle school staff & students, managing large amounts of detail, focusing on continuous improvement, excellent communication, and—most important—an intense focus on the student experience. 
Personal & Values:
- Complete multifunctional school activity bus initial and recertification trainings in collaboration with DPS Transportation Department in order to operate the small activity bus for all CareerConnect events as needed and assist in the exchange of busses with other CareerConnect schools.
Vision & Strategy:
- Assist with student recruitment, selection, and preparation for program participation and assist new business partner recruitment efforts.
- Assist with development, planning and implementation of additional career exploration programs for CareerConnect.
- Interpret feedback from students, school staff, company partners, Work-Based Learning Specialists and other central CareerConnect staff to ensure continued program effectiveness and improvement.

- Coordinate career exploration events with company and school partners, and manage event logistics such as food, expenditures for equipment and supplies, activity or charter bus scheduling & driving, session planning, and collecting event evaluations and thank you notes, etc.
- Coordinate SparkSchool and company partner onboarding and end of year/exit activities including but limited to, pre and post-assessments, company profile sheet & promo video creation, facilitate traits of a young professional training, etc.
- Gather and interpret data; track student attendance, school participation, & company contacts to create reports based on information gathered through the online event management system and/or other online tools.
- Utilize graphic design and other digital software to create worksheets, promo videos and other graphics to maintain CareerSpark branding and promote completed events.
- Coordinate activity bus scheduling for regional middle and high school CareerConnect WBL programs, Sports & Extracurricular activities.
People & Culture:
- Serve as a liaison between school-based staff and business partners to ensure program continuity and intended outcomes; Provide school and company partner support through on-going check-ins, interventions, and assistance as needed.
Community & Equity:
- Promote CareerSpark and high school CareerConnect programs within schools to teachers, school staff, students, parents, business partners and more by delivering presentations, distributing marketing collateral, and representing CareerConnect in various school & community settings.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
- 2 to 4 or more years of experience working with "opportunity" or at-risk youth in an urban setting.
- Previous experience related to event planning (preferred but not mandatory).
- Career and Technical Education endorsement preferred.                                                                 
- Multi-Functional School Activity Bus Certification within 90 days of hire.                                               
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and enhance large youth development program for middle school students.                                                                                             
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.                                                                                                             
- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.                                  
- Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including ability to inspire others.                      
- Ability to communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written and presentation skills.
- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.                               
- Ability to set goals, work independently and drive results.                                                                                                           
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Bilingual Skills in Spanish (preferred but not mandatory).                                                                                                                            
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree.
