The American Red Cross Chapter in Denver, Colorado is seeking a Part Time Maintenance Technician to support the Colorado/Wyoming Region. Both positions will be in Denver, CO. A valid Driver’s License is required! This is a part time 20 hour per week position.
Job Summary:
Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades, carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repaid, electrical, sheet metal fabrication and welding. Conducts routine, periodic or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery and equipment. Uses hand and power tools. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs machines and equipment. Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams and drawings and specifications.

1. Maintains and repairs organization’s facilities and properties involving routine task and responsibilities, including moving and storing furniture and equipment 2. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
3. Installs and corrects minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and structural problems and will services boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment.
4. Repairs appliances and equipment.
5. Paints structures and equipment as needed.
6. Documents installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies 7. May plan and tend flowerbeds. Prunes shrubs and trees to enhance growth and appearance, water lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds and will spray fertilizer and insecticides.
8. May rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep external walkways and staircases and may remove snow using power removal equipment or shovel. Applies snow-melting chemical when necessary on company roads, walkways and outside staircases.
9. May keep drainage ditches and culverts free of obstructions.
10. Estimates time and material costs of various projects. Requisitions new supplies and equipment.
11. It is the responsibility of all Red Cross Staff members to recruit, train and work with volunteers and to treat all clients, volunteers, guests, and other employees in a courteous and respectful manner at all times while maintaining a cooperative atmosphere for everyone. It is expected that each member of the regional management team to work with a volunteer counterpart to ensure key volunteers are utilized and ensure depth within the function.
12. Carries out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Skills and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required. May require a trade license, a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years required
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
